Standalone Diagnostics CD Overview and Download
Overview
The IBM Standalone Diagnostics CD provides hardware diagnostics and service-related utilities for Power Cognitive systems. The preferred method for diagnosing and servicing these systems is to use the concurrent diagnostics and service-related utilities that are installed with the AIX operating system on the system or partition. However, the standalone diagnostics CD would be used in the following situations when it makes sense to test the hardware independent of the operating system:
- When there is no operating system installed on a system or partition
- When the operating system does not have support for the service-related function you want to perform
- When there might be a problem with the boot device
- When the service documentation specifically recommends running standalone diagnostics
Updates are released periodically to support new systems and devices. IBM Diagnostics might not be supported on Power LC systems.
Standalone Diagnostics CD Download
Determine which diagnostic CD ISO image to use and download. The downloaded file must be burned onto a CD or transferred to a flash drive. Use your favorite software to create a CD or follow AIX procedure to transfer ISO image to a flash drive. Refer to the IBM Documentation for information on how to use the hardware diagnostic CD.
